Why Conway, SC Changes Its Name to Halloween, SC in October
Each month of October, the charming city of Conway, South Carolina, transforms into the city of Halloween, SC, bringing all the spooky vibes you could ask for! It’s a fun, festive tradition that Karen` and I look forward to every year. The city goes all out with decorations, activities, and contests that add a little extra magic to the fall season, drawing in both locals and visitors alike.
Conway, SC Becomes Halloween, SC Each October: What You Need to Know
One of our favorite things to do is stroll through downtown, where Halloween-themed decorations take over. Picture witch hats swinging from the breezeway by City Hall—it’s a sight you don’t want to miss! We also love checking out the home decorating contest, where the community really gets creative. Plus, who can resist a good cook-off? We always make sure to stop by and taste what’s on offer.

If you’re into spooky fun, the Spooky Boat Tour is a must-try, and the Conway Ghost Walk adds a dash of mystery to your evening. And for a little something extra, the Halloween Golf Cart Parade is such a unique and quirky tradition—it’s always a blast watching the golf carts all decked out in spooky gear.
What makes Conway’s celebration even more special is that it’s the only city in South Carolina to officially change its name for Halloween, according to the state’s Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism. Check out Conway’s Event Calendar Here.
